Our Story

A flame that crosses oceans

Some recipes are never written down. They are passed on through gestures, through aromas, through the silences between generations.

Zanoofa — The woman who survived everything

Her name was Zanoofa. She lived in a village scattered like a handful of lost islands on a bruised land: clay walls, palm leaf roofs, and between each house, a distance great enough for danger to completely conceal itself.

At eleven, she was married. Not out of joyous tradition, but out of fear. Because in this village, having a husband meant being protected. A man to walk by her side on the forest paths. A man to allow her to stay alive.

Her first husband slowly sharpened a knife, then told her he was going to kill her. She was only eleven. So she fled, barefoot through the forest, crossing roots that rose like claws, where snakes slid silently like living rivers. She ran until fear gave her the wings of a bird.

She survived.

At eighteen, she remarried a man whose hands did not tremble with violence. From their love a family was born: children, a house filled with laughter, life, and light. And in this house, she cooked.

Her sauces carried all that she could not express with words:
her strength, her tenderness, her fire.

Kaathoon — The noble woman

From Zanoofa came Kaathoon: a name that means "noble woman". She is my mother. She inherited her mother's know-how, her cooking gestures, and her spice secrets. And without knowing it, she also inherited her flame.

Anfas — Exile and Memory

Anfas Jasool, founder of Kaathoon Chili Sauce, with his products

My name is Anfas Jasool. I am the founder of Kaathoon Chili Sauce.

When I arrived in France, something was missing.
Not just a flavor: a presence.
The scent of my grandmother's cooking. The warmth of her sauces. The memory of Zanoofa, before her spices, transforming pain into something beautiful.

So, I called my mother. And together, we recreated the recipe.
Gesture after gesture. Spice after spice. Memory after memory.

Jérôme — The first tasting

Some stories begin with a simple moment.
For Kaathoon, it all started with Jérôme Nicolet.

He was the first person, outside of my family, to taste the sauce. And at that moment, something happened: his gaze expressed what words could not say. He didn't just enjoy it. He believed in it. He looked at me and said:
"This sauce deserves to exist and be known. It needs to become a brand."

This conviction changed everything. Jérôme became my partner and, together, we created the Kaathoon laboratory in Faremoutiers, France: a place where a grandmother's recipe, passed down from generation to generation and across oceans, is now prepared with precision, passion, and pride.

What you hold in your hands

Each jar of Kaathoon tells a story. That of a woman who ran barefoot through the forest to survive. That of a mother who preserved a recipe and passed it down from generation to generation. That of a son who crossed an ocean and refused to forget. And that of a friend whose trust transformed a memory into a brand.

This is not simply a chili sauce. It is an act of remembrance. A tribute. A flame that refuses to be extinguished.

For Zanoofa. For Kaathoon. For all these courageous women who transform pain into love through their cooking.
